The Warranty Group won't pay what they should - MaxCare (3rd party warranty through CarMax)

I purchased an extended warranty for a truck I purchased at CarMax. Shortly before my agreement expired, the transmission went out. My mechanic called them, they sent an inspector out (hoping to deny the claim on the basis of presumed negligence), and, as keep an impeccable service schedule, they had no choice but to honor the claim. Against the shops recommendation, they sent cheap, inferior replacement parts rather than GM originals. Lo and behold, the tranny failed two months later. In the meantime, my agreement had expired. They agreed to fix the tranny again, but refused to reimburse my towing and rental car costs. True, the agreement had expired, but the second breakdown stems directly from cheap parts they sent the first time. Their responsibilty, they should pay for it. I have e-mailed them and called the 800 number, but keep getting the runaround from their less-than-friendly CSRs. I am not giving up, and will keep hounding them until I get some sort of restitution. Folks, if you're considering an extended warranty, DON'T buy one from the Warranty Group . And find out if they are the warranty company being used if you are purchasing products from a 3rd party (CarMax, Best Buy, etc.)

Doesnt sound like it's the transmission .. sounds like it needs a new motorist.. this post did not help my research.. who blows up a transmission on a newer vehicle these days.. who does that.

wrx911 - I did read the contract, quite thoroughly as a matter of fact, and was aware that they (TWG) reserved the right to use aftermarket/remanufactured parts. The first two transmissions they sent (reman'd) were defective and failed days after they were put in. I thought they would finally see the light and authorize GM parts, considering the money they were pouring down th drain on parts and shipping/returns.On the third time around, they finally got it right, but only after wasting what I suspect were several thousand dollars of their own money. I'm also happy to report that after a vigorous
phone and e-mail campaign, and a complaint filed with the Illinois Division of Consumer Affairs, they reimbursed me for
every cent of the rental and towing charges. The squeaky wheel does ideed get the grease, especially since big, faceless companies like TWG typically rely on that fact that most consumers are too lazy and impatient to keep up the good fight and force these guys to do the right thing.

I'm glad you've had good experiences with them. Based on the reviews I've read on sites similar to this one (and conversations with other WG customers), you seem to be the rare exception.

Thanks for the input, though.

In your contract it states what parts can be auth. New, used, remain or after market. At least they replaced transmission. If you wanted gm shoulda bought your car from a gm dealer. Read your contract buddy! I have nothing but good expriences with them. If you talk to them like human beings you will treat you like one!
